Asian business taking over new markets
♫ Wednesday, March 19th, 2008Asians came to Norway in late 1960’s when Norway was in need of man power. Most of them were from the indian subcontinent. These people were looking for a greater earning and had in mind to return back to their home country when they first arrived in Norway. As the time passed by, more people from Asia came to Norway for different reasons, most of them were refugees, some of them came on the ground of familyreunion and some of them on the humanitarian ground. The increased number of people from this part of world, created a new market for products of their home country. This was the early beginning of asian businesses in Norway. People who came to Norway found it more and more difficult returning back because they had families setteled here. As well as some of them saw new opportunities to do business in this market which might not have succeeded in their home country because of hard competetion.
Today there are far more asians running their own companies in Norway than ever before and the number is rising quickly. There is in fact no statistics for how many companies are established by asians in Norway, but it is certain that the number is rising. This fact is also supported by the growing acknowledgement in the norwegian people for services provided by these “foreigners”. Even if most of the businesses are related to the food industry, there is a growing number of car dealers, IT-consultants, property dealers, etc. And some of the companies have gained a countrywide reputation, showing the potential lying within this segment of norwegian business market.
